Our family-owned bakery business in Nottingham makes hand-finished sweet and savoury products for frozen markets. Unlike other bakeries, our scale and our team attitude mean we’re flexible enough to manage bespoke short runs of 8 pallets but still produce at a very consistent high quality.

Our bakery heritage goes back a long way. Our business founder Mazhar Butt knows a thing or two about making bread that’s light and airy and full of flavour, and what he knows he learned from his father.
Butt Foods began when Mr Butt was making naan breads in his Asian restaurant for a special customer order one day. Unfortunately (or happily, as it turned out), the customer never showed up to collect the order, and the young Mazhar found himself with more freshly-baked naan than he knew what to do with.
Until he wrapped them and put them on the counter of his shop…and sold them all in a day.
Next day customers were back for more, and more customers came who had heard how good the naan were. The rest is history.
Today our modern bakery produces nearly 3000 tonnes of baked products a year, but we still take pride in the individual skills and knowledge it takes to make our products.
And we still believe we make the best naan breads.
We’re especially proud that our manufacturing skills are backed by our passion for developing high quality, innovative products that meet definite market needs, and so help our customers to bring interest and added value to their menus. We’re naturally inquisitive, so our finger is constantly on the pulse of trends in foodservice and bakery that represent exciting opportunities for us and our customers.
We work with some of the finest development specialists, including bakery consultants at the School of Artisan Food, to explore flavours, textures and processes that we can bring to market. And our own passion for bakery excellence ensures that only the best products make it through our rigorous processes.
